What happened to Olivia Zick?

The untimely and unexpected death of a beloved member of the Cincinnati Police Department has left everyone in shock.  Online rumors claim that a Cincinnati police officer committed apparent suicide before passing away.

Officer Olivia Zick of the Cincinnati Police Department was named as the victim. Her friends, family, and the Cincinnati Police Department are in our prayers and thoughts.

Cause of death

According to reports, Cincinnati Police Officer Olivia Zick committed suicide today, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at East Fork State Park, which is mostly located in Batavia Township, Ohio.

At East Fork State Park, her death is being looked at as a probable suicide.  “Prayers for the Cincinnati police officer’s family and friends who lost their lives today in East Fork State Park.”

The untimely passing of such a superb police officer is being prayed for. She reportedly had some despair at the time. Olivia’s friends and family are currently going through an extremely difficult period.

The Cincinnati Police Department is likewise taken aback by what happened because they did not anticipate it and are deeply upset by the unexpected loss of an officer like Olivia.

The Cincinnati Police Department needs prayers. The main police force in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the Cincinnati Police Department. 1057 sworn cops and 281 non-sworn personnel make up the department. The family has not yet made plans for Olivia Zick’s burial or funeral.

Who was Olivia Zick?

With the Cincinnati Police Department in Ohio, Olivia Zick was a veteran of 30 years in law enforcement. She was one of the department’s 1057 sworn police officers.

Olivia grew up in a little Pennsylvania town. Everyone admired her because she was a kind and selfless person. Olivia’s act of kindness started when she gave a kidney to Jess, a resident of the United States.

She saw her father pass away while donating part of his organs in a few instances, which made her want to donate her organs. Olivia was always nice, helpful, and a person who thought things through before coming to her own conclusions.

Organ Donation

Even when she was white, she did not want to join the Ohio Police Department. She changed her mind after hearing a suggestion and speaking with a Cincinnati police officer, though.

Several years ago, police officer Olivia Zick saved eight lives by donating an organ. If you didn’t know, a stranger receives a kidney from a kind donor. If that stranger knew of someone else who was willing to donate but wasn’t a match, that person would donate their kidney to another stranger, which would then trigger a chain of donations from additional strangers.

A quick look at Olivia’s Organ Donation Journey

“My connection to donation started in May of 2012 when my father James passed away. He was able to donate tissue, corneas, and bone to help many people enhance their lives.

Then in September of 2013, my connection became stronger when my brother’s 6-month-old niece Lainey tragically passed away due to a car accident, and was able to donate many of her organs.

In November 2015, I saw on the news that a single mother of 4 in Northern Kentucky needed a kidney transplant and was desperate for a living donor.

I was sitting on my couch and thought to myself, “Why wouldn’t I try to help this woman and get tested?” I immediately contacted the kidney transplant team at The Christ Hospital Health Network to see what I needed to do to begin the process.

While I was deemed healthy enough to donate my kidney, I was not a match for the woman that I saw on the news. At that point, we entered the paired kidney exchange to increase her chances of getting a kidney. After 8 months of being on the exchange, she thankfully received a deceased donor’s kidney.

The transplant team asked me if I would consider being an altruistic donor, and within 3 hours of saying yes they found my match, who happened to be a 29-year-old in California. Surgery was scheduled for December 21, 2016, at 5 am, which was also my 24th birthday!

This started a chain of 8 transplants across the country. I then flew to California in November of 2017 to meet my recipient Jess and her family. We are now truly family and sisters at heart.

Donating my kidney was the best decision I have made and has made me a better person. Jess is now much healthier and living a full life with her family and friends, including her extended family in Cincinnati.”

RIP Olivia Zick… Pray for her friends, family, and CPD Brothers and Sisters in blue. We need to acknowledge police officers and tell them how much they are appreciated. To all of my friends and family LEOs, I truly appreciate all the work you do, and everything you give to our communities. It’s a job that is sometimes thankless and does not give you anywhere near the amount of credit you deserve, or the goodwill in return for what you give.

Tyna and I used to care for the dogs after her surgery when she donated a kidney (that was the kind of selfless person that she was). I am stunned and deeply saddened to see this.

Pics were from a few yrs back. Olivia Zick was a CPD recruit at a difficult time when our family flew a thin blue line flag at our home and dared anyone to engage. She couldn’t wait to be part of Cincinnati Police and worked to improve herself until she graduated from the Academy. She scenario trained in our basement with Elena and it sounded like a bar fights down there. She came to our home before her first-ever shift to thank Elena. My heart aches for the loss of this young woman and another hole in my wife’s heart. RIP Officer Olivia Zick and peace to all, who like us, had the privilege of being part of her life.

Oh, Elena, I am so sorry for your loss… I did not know her but it looks like she was a wonderful person and well-liked in CPD. It’s heartbreaking. Please let me know if you need anything or just to talk.

My heart is broken, I knew Olivia before she became an officer. She was my neighbor, my mentee, she was family. My husband watched us as I got her ready for her dream job (CPD officer). I love you, Olivia Zick. You will never be forgotten. I don’t have the words right now.
