How did Victor Steeman die?

The 22-year-old Supersport racer Victor Steeman died from injuries incurred in a crash on Saturday. His loss is mourned by the motorsports community. During the first race of the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship round at the Portimao track in Portugal, Steeman was engaged in a multi-rider crash at Turn 14.

Heavily injured Steeman was immediately rushed to the hospital in the nearby city of Faro via helicopter. Steeman remained in critical condition as he suffered from polytrauma and a head injury. He sadly passed away several days despite the treatment.

The race was immediately red-flagged as a result of the multi-rider accident. Before being sent to Faro hospital, Steeman underwent emergency treatment trackside and in the circuit medical center. Sadly, Steeman passed away from his injuries after a few days.

His family said in a statement, Something you have always been afraid of as a parent of a motorcycle racer has now happened.

Our Victor could not win this last race. Despite the unbearable loss and grief, we are extremely proud to share with you that our hero, through his passing, was able to save 5 other people by donating his organs.

We would like to thank everyone for the way you have lived with us over the past few days. We will miss our Victor enormously.

Victor Steeman cause of death was his injuries from the accident. He died due to serious injuries from the crash. He had head injuries and polytrauma from the crash. The FIM, the organization that oversees motorcycle racing, declared that Victor has passed away.

The statement says, On Tuesday night, the Dutch rider passed away as the result of head injuries he suffered in a multi-rider crash with Jose Luis Perez Gonzalez (Accolade Smrz Racing) at Turn 14 during Saturday’s opening race at the Portuguese track.

The first World Superbike race of the event that afternoon was shortened from 20 to 14 laps as a result of the incident, which immediately canceled the race and delayed the rest of the day’s schedule.

Rider Steeman of the MTM Kawasaki motorcycle was transported to the medical center before being flown by helicopter to a hospital in the neighboring city of Faro, where he tragically passed dead a few days later.

After the delay, the inaugural race on Saturday was cut down from 20 laps to 14. Toprak Razgatlioglu took first place. The Pata Yamaha rider said he was “looking for good news.” First off, he declared, “I say that this weekend we started extremely strong and we are here again.” “Thanks to my team because they did a very good job. But today I’m not really happy because the 300 rider Steeman had a big crash today and we are waiting for good news.”

Jonathan Rea of Northern Ireland, who finished third in the race, expressed his sympathy for the injured rider. Rea also paid respect to Chrissy Rouse, a British Superbike rider who died last Thursday after being involved in an accident at Donington Park. “It doesn’t really matter what has gone on right now and I hope the kid who crashed earlier is okay,” said Rea.

Victor Steeman’s career

Victor Steeman debuted in 2018 as a replacement rider before riding in the World Supersport 300 for the full time in 2019, finishing fifth in the standings after earning two pole positions. He took a year off from the series before making a comeback in 2021, winning overall and ranking 10th overall.

With wins at Assen, Most, Magny-Cours, and Barcelona after switching from KTM machinery to Kawasaki in 2022, he established himself as a championship challenger and finished the season as the posthumous runner-up to Alvaro Diaz. Steeman’s demise follows Dean Berta Vinales’ loss following a crash in 2021 at Jerez as the second fatality in the World Supersport 300 in just over a year.
