World’s Longest Nose, Mehmet Ozyurek Passed Away – Cause of death Explained

Mehmet Ozyürek, the proud owner of the world’s longest nose, has died at the age of 75, according to Guinness World Records. Let’s see how did Mehmet Özyürek die and his cause of death in detail.

How did Mehmet Özyürek die?

Mehmet Özyürek, a Turkish man who held the record for having the world’s longest nose, passed away at the age of 75. 

Guinness World Records posted this sad news on social media in the following statement.

Guinness World Records is saddened to learn of the passing of Mehmet Özyürek, the man with the world’s longest nose.

Hello Bhutan also posted this sad news saying,

“The man with the largest nose in the world Mr. Mehmet Özyürek from Turkey passes away at the age of 75 following a heart attack. His nose measured 8.8 cm (3.46 in) from the bridge to the tip, which is the length of a playing card.”

Who was Mehmet Özyürek?

Mehmet, a native of Türkiye, was well known and adored for his cheerful personality and frequently referred to his record-breaking nose as a “blessed” feature.

He was a resident of Artvin, Turkey. He was named the longest nose on a real person (male) three times: first in 2001 on Guinness World Records: Primetime in Los Angeles, then again in 2010 on the set of Lo Show dei Record in Italy, and finally in 2021.  

Turkish citizen with a genuine enthusiasm for life was given the honor of having the longest nose of a live person (male).

According to GWR, Mehmet’s nose was 8.8 cm (3.46 in) long from the bridge to the tip. His son released the following statement on the passing of Mehmet, saying,

“I sincerely thank the people of Artvin and their supporters,” his son Barş remarked. We have pain; my father was very kind-hearted, and he tried not to offend anyone. My father was not only at peace with his nose, but he was also at peace with his life.” 

Mehmet stated that “My sense of smell is different from other people. It was said that, When he entered his house, he could tell the kind of dish they were cooking.

“I love it, this feature. The world likes it, Guinness World Records likes it, of course, my wife likes it too!” he stated.

Mehmet: Man with blessed nose:

Mehmet admitted to GWR that the moment he entered any room, he would be the center of attention, but he didn’t mind at all. He stated, “I have been blessed.”

Mehmet has always loved his unusual feature, even if many viciously mocked him about it during his childhood years.

“My friends used to call me Big Nose to upset me. But I looked at myself in the mirror – I discovered myself,” he stated.

“God made me like this, there is nothing that can be done in this situation. I learned to live in peace with my physique, he said in an interview with Turkiye.

It’s a genetic condition as far as I understand. There was no explanation by doctors, but I have it in my family, so my father has it, my uncles have it, I have it.”

“I am extremely pleased to represent Türkiye, the Black Sea or Artvin on an international scale.

“Some become martyrs, some become Prime Ministers and some become record holders.”, he stated.

Mehmet Özyürek cause of death:

The record breaker, Özyürek became unwell and passed away suddenly. Mehmet’s loved ones paid an emotional farewell to him as they put him to rest in his hometown of Artvin.

Artvinli World Nose Champion Mehmet Özyürek died after a heart attack while preparing for surgery at RIZE State Hospital.

He represented Turkey in countries of the world like Europe and South Korea. Tributes flooded social media after his demise news broke out.
