David Bosecker, an Eastland County Sheriff’s Deputy, was slain while performing his official duties. Cody Douglas Pritchard, the suspect, is accused of capital murder.

David Bosecker was Killed On Duty

According to the Eastland County Today Facebook page, deputies from the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic altercation that was happening at a home on Hwy 183 between Cisco and Rising Star at around 9 p.m. on Friday, July 21.

As soon as Officer David Bosecker got on the scene, the suspect started firing at him. Deputy Bosecker was hit and died as a result.

No more people were hurt because when other units arrived, they were able to capture the suspect. The suspect was transported to the Stephens County Jail and accused of murdering the Capitol. The Texas Rangers are conducting an ongoing investigation into this. 

About Officer Deputy Bosecker

Deputy Bosecker was a master peace officer with more than 21 years of experience in law enforcement. As a constable in Wise County, he started his career in law enforcement before moving on to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

He later rose to the position of Game Warden for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Additionally, a Comanche PD police officer. In 2021, he eventually became a constable at Eastland County and also worked part-time as a maritime enforcement officer for Cisco PD.

Who is Cody Douglas Pritchard?

David Bosecker, an Eastland County Sheriff’s Office Deputy. He was shot and killed by Cody Douglas Pritchard during a domestic violence assault.

The suspect was brought to the Stephens County Jail and booked for Capitol Murder. The Stephens County Jail is now housing Cody Douglas Pritchard, who has been charged with capital murder of a peace officer.

A bond has not yet been set at this time. The Texas Rangers are in charge of this ongoing inquiry. The shooting’s inquiry is still ongoing. The police department has stated that more information will be made public shortly.

  1. One of these days the state of Texas will get serious about protecting our rural speed lab infested areas of this great state.
    This was unnecessary and hope to see changes to protect them more vigorously in future.
