Who is Clare Larkey-Jones?

A courageous mother of three described how she stood in the center of a group of people attacking a man “like a pack of wild animals” and single-handedly stopped the attack.

On her way home after an 11-hour shift, 48-year-old Clare Larkey-Jones saw the group assaulting a man in his 20s.

Before they fled, the off-duty police officer grabbed the gang’s leader off the victim and dialed an ambulance, according to North Wales Live.

She has now thought back on her decision to stop the attack, stating that it was the “correct thing to do.”

What did Clare Larkey-Jones stated?
.

PC Larkey-Jones stated: “I had just returned from an 11-hour shift and was on my way home from The Maes in Caernarfon when I heard a lot of shouting

“I walked over and instructed my brother to wait in the car as I noticed a group of boys picking on a man in his 20s.

“They began beating him up and were like a pack of crazy animals. When I approached, they stopped, but when I left, they resumed.

“I simply followed my instincts and grabbed hold of the ringleader, yelled at them, pulled him off before they fled, and then dialed 911 to send an ambulance and the police.

PC Larkey-Jones received awards for brave act

PC Larkey-Jones was accused of grabbing the ringleader Callum Lee Davies “mid-punch” during a trial at Caernarfon Crown Court.

He was imprisoned for the assault, while the police officer received awards for her valiant acts.

Judge Nicola Jones stated that it was fortunate that PC Clare Larkey-Jones, who was off duty that evening and had just the restoration of order in mind, interfered.

Who was Davies?

Clare Larkey-Jones was praised for restoring order on the town’s Maes within seconds, after single-handedly grabbing Callum Lee Davies’s “mid punch” during an attack on Ryan Jones.

CCTV footage of the incident on January 3 last year shows violence escalating after 19-year-old Davies booted a football at Mr. Jones’ friend’s car.

After words were exchanged, Davies can be seen headbutting his victim before punching him and dragging him to the floor and then kicking him.

He also urges his friends to join in the attack.

Mold Crown Court heard how the gang had “acted like a pack of animals” before PC Larkey-Jones intervened “without thought for her safety.”

Davies, of Lon Cefn Du, Caernarfon, is presently serving six years and nine months imprisonment for two unprovoked attacks within 24 hours of each other in April last year and was further sentenced to 12 months to run together after pleading guilty to attack occasioning actual physical harm.

PC Larkey-Jones explained the situation

“She got caught up in the violent behavior of all of these men. She gave everyone the order to go in a stern and obvious manner.”

A reception at 10 Downing Street honored PC Larkey-Jones for her bravery, and the Police Federation nominated her for a Bravery Award.

“I just knew something wasn’t right there,” she claimed, “and I thought if one of my boys was getting beaten up, I would like to think that someone would do the same as I did.

“I honestly didn’t think anything of it at the time. I just don’t like to see people being bullied. My husband asked me why I did it and it was because it was the right thing to do.”

Meet the brave PC Larkey Jones

PC Larkey-Jones began her police career at the age of 25 and worked as a frontline officer for 22 years before joining the force’s Amethyst Team as a Sexual Offenses Liaison Officer.

“Every single day is different and I’ve always enjoyed coming to work and making so many friends,” she continued. “I’ve always enjoyed the variety of being a police officer.

“I enjoy interacting with the general population and working with emergency personnel to handle everything from attacks to traffic accidents.

The diversity of tasks we are expected to complete and spending time with Amethyst are both highly rewarding.

The years have truly flown by because it has been such a flexible profession that allowed me to work part-time while my kids were growing up, but I was always available to work weekends.

“The cops are on call 24/7, so I have had to miss countless family gatherings, birthdays, and other occasions.
Because it’s a bank holiday, we cannot close.

Officials praised PC Clare Larkey-Jones

Judge Nicola Jones told him: “Thankfully, PC Clare Larkey-Jones, who was off duty that evening, with no thought for her safety, clearly thinking only of restoring order and protecting Ryan Jones from further injury, intervened and pulled you off Ryan Jones.

Judge Nicola Jones asked for PC Larkey-Jones to be present in court.

She said: “I wanted to thank you and commend you for your bravery that night.

“I’ve seen what this man is capable of concerning other offenses and had you not intervened, there’d have been a very real risk of more serious injury to Ryan Jones and certainly a real risk of more public disorder.”

The judge said when other people in the vicinity walked past or were too fearful to intervene, “you just went straight over, you weren’t on duty, and within seconds, you resolved the whole thing.”

She thanked the officer on behalf of the people of Caernarfon. And said, she was going to write to the chief constable to share her appreciation.

After the court case, North Wales Police Detective Inspector Iolo Edwards added his praise.

He said: “We are very proud of Clare’s tenacity which is evidenced in this incident.

“As police officers, our responsibilities can go beyond our duty time, and her intervention on this occasion is likely to have prevented a member of the public from suffering a more significant and devastating injury.”
