Tragic death: Anthony Moura, a firefighter from Staten Island dies of cancer aged just 34

Firefighter Anthony Mauro, 34, a member of the FDNY from Staten Island who was praised for his courage and spirit, will be laid to rest after a battle with cancer on Thursday. Let’s see about it in detail.

 

Tragic death:

Firefighter Anthony Mauro, 34, of Bay Ridge, passed away on January 27.

Mauro worked at the Third Avenue and Wakeman Place FDNY Engine 241/Ladder 109 station. His wife Alexandra, daughter Chiara, and son Anthony all survive him.

After having a seizure at work in 2020, Mauro was diagnosed with brain cancer.

The Uniformed Firefighters Association announced the devastating news of Mauro’s death on Social media.

It read,

“It is with deep regret the department announces the passing of FF Anthony N. Mauro – Ladder Company 109, which occurred while off duty on January 27, 2023. “

The Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater New York said in a statement,

“He had a fight in him that most don’t, which is why his spirit will be with us forever. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and will continue to stand by and support them,” 

“He touched many lives in his short time with the department at 34 years old.”

“This is a tremendous loss to his young family, his parents, the members of L109/E241, all the members of the 40 battalion, and all those who worked with him, and his brother who is also an active firefighter in Brooklyn.”

 

Funeral Services:

Visitation services will take place on February 1 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Casey Funeral Home in Staten Island, 350 Slosson Ave. The funeral will be held on February 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church in Staten Island, 101 Cromwell Avenue.

Contributions to The Firefighter Anthony N. Mauro Children’s Scholarship Fund, The FDNY Foundation, 9 MetroTech Center, Room 5E-10 Brooklyn, NY 11201, may be made instead of flowers.

Anthony Mauro resided on Staten Island in New York. He was a professional firefighter from Ladder 109 . In his brief tenure with the agency at age 34, he made a significant impact on many lives. He was able to positively impact the lives of a large number of people during the little period he worked for the company. He will leave behind his wife and their two small children. His young family, his parents, the members of L109/E241, all of the 40 battalion, all of those who worked with him, as well as his brother, who is currently an active firefighter in Brooklyn, have all suffered a great loss as a result of this awful incident.

One of the worst things anyone can go through in life is losing a loved one. Any journey must have a destination at the end. The person’s time on earth has regrettably come to an end now that they have died.
