At 4.06pm on Tuesday, Thomas O’Halloran, 87, was attacked at Cayton Road, Greenford, near the A40 in west London.

His assailant then fled, and no arrests have been made in the capital’s sixth homicide in four days.
Scotland Yard released a photo of a guy they urgently want to talk with in connection with the killing on Wednesday afternoon.

The public has been advised not to approach him and instead to dial 999.
As they appealed for witnesses, the Met kept an open mind about the motivation and hasn’t ruled out robbery.
“I saw a couple of people gathering around him, and then he drove passed and stopped further up, and then there was a bunch of young boys around him,” Frasley Coutinho, who lives opposite the crime scene, said.

Locals also reported that Mr. O’Halloran was a musician who frequently performed his accordion to collect funds for Ukrainian immigrants.
“He always had a Ukraine flag on the front of his basket,” Hitesh Patel, 62, a shop owner at the neighbouring Greenford station, told the Standard. It said ‘Aid for Ukraine.’ He was a wonderful, lovely man.
“I spotted him soon before he was killed on his scooter riding up to the A40. I was filling up with gas, but I wish I had said something.” His wife was constantly around in her mobility scooter.
“He claimed to be Irish and to have three boys.” It’s heartbreaking. I can’t believe somebody would hurt him like that in broad daylight.
“We’ll miss him and his games around here.”
Tony Paraskeba, 52, another resident, adding, “It’s very awful.” He was adored by my son. When he saw him, he would beg him to blow his horn on the scooter, and he would. He’s in a bad mood. “Why would somebody harm an elderly man?”
“We always used to see him on his mobility scooter – he always used to grin, he was a nice old man,” said Simran Advani, 25, a senior property manager.

“It’s frightening that a man in his nineties could be killed here.” Mr. O’Halloran, nicknamed “Uncle Tom” by his neighbours, has lived in Greenford since the 1970s.
“I’m terribly upset,” one neighbour stated. He was continually saying hi. I saw his sons grow up on the streets.”
As scores of detectives watched the murder scene on Wednesday, forensic experts were spotted carrying bags into police vans. A cordon had been erected around the domestic semi-detached house site. It spans the intersection of Cayton Road and Runnymede Gardens.
In London this year, there have been 58 killings. Last year, there were 76 homicides by August 17th.
“We are keen to identify the individual in the CCTV photographs as soon as possible,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, who is leading the inquiry.

“Mr O’Halloran’s life was needlessly snatched away in a horrible act of unjustified violence,” said Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, who is in charge of policing in west London, including Ealing.
“I recognise that the community, like myself, will be surprised and outraged by this happened.”
