Lafayette officers was shot and killed a person attacking a gas station clerk early Wednesday morning, according to Durham Police Department. The incident took place at Circle K at the crossroads of Fayetteville Road and Highway 54, close to the exit ramp onto Interstate 40, at roughly 3:30 in the morning. Police were contacted there about a probable suicide, according to Police Chief Patrice Andrews. When they got there, they discovered that the doors were locked and that someone inside was using a sharp weapon to harm the store clerk. Officers stormed the gas station and started shooting, killing the assailant of the clerk. The clerk needed to be brought to the hospital because of significant injuries. According to Andrews, “Officers fired bullets that mortally wounded the offender.” A few police officers also sustained injuries, although they were attended to on the spot and did not need hospitalization.
The number of shots that were fired or the location where the attacker was shot is also unknown at this point in the inquiry, according to Andrews. Suspect in custody after Pinellas Park officer is shot at gas station
THE PINELLAS PARK Authorities claim that a man opened fire on two Pinellas Park police officers at a Circle K gas station on Tuesday night, hitting one of them in the arm. Following a pursuit by deputies, 24-year-old Calvin Larry Sinclair Brockington Jr. was apprehended 13 miles away in St. Petersburg, according to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri. Brockington had fled the scene at 4900 Ulmerton Road. Brockington is charged with two counts of attempting to kill a police officer. Gualtieri stated at a news conference inside the Circle K early on Wednesday that further charges are also pending. The 30-year-old officer who was shot by Brockington, Jacob Derr, was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, according to Gualtieri. He is anticipated to fully recover.
Derr answered the 911 call from the girlfriend. Gualtieri claimed that when Derr attempted to confront Brockington in the parking lot, Brockington fired first, striking Derr in the right bicep. The sheriff claims that Derr couldn’t grasp his revolver because the round broke the bone in his arm. KC Gavin, a second cop, arrived and started firing at Brockington in the parking lot. Gavin is 37 years old. Both were not struck, and no onlookers were hurt. Gualtieri claimed that Brockington momentarily held a customer at gunpoint while stealing their vehicle. Brockington approached Gavin in the stolen car but missed her. He then escaped on Ulmerton Road and eventually entered the southbound lanes of Interstate 275.

Brockington was located by deputies on the 900 block of 22nd Ave S, nearly a mile away from the address where his apartment was supposed to be.
Without firing another shot, deputies rammed his car and arrested him. Because Gavin used her gun in the incident, the Sheriff’s Office is looking into it.
To guarantee those investigations are “thorough, full, and objective,” Pinellas County authorities do not look into their deadly-force occurrences.
