Anne Arundel First Alert page announces the passing of Firefighter L. Wayne Brown Jr. on their official Facebook page, the statement reads,

L. Wayne Brown Jr. passed away on October 16, 2022, after an unexpected medical event on October 6, 2022. He was 46 years of age and is survived by his loving wife, Jessica, his five children, Justin, Nicholas, Summer, Mason, and Kinsley, parents, Larry Sr. and Gertrude, three sisters, Christine, Michelle, and Gina, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was born and raised in Baltimore County and always considered Maryland his home. After graduating from Mt. Saint Joseph High School in 1994, he pursued a career in public safety as a proud Anne Arundel County Firefighter. Wayne passionately served the residents of the County for 21 years before his passing.

Wayne’s passion for his profession was commonly shared with those around him. He willingly served as a coach and mentor to new and senior firefighters alike. He was a trusted voice and helping hand around the firehouse and always knew how to brighten every room he entered with his infectious smile and warm heart.

As an accomplished athlete throughout his life, he was proud to witness many of his children carry on those athletic talents today, excelling in hockey, soccer, and baseball.

Wayne was most proud of his roles as a devoted husband to his loving wife, Jessica and father to his five amazing children. Wayne was a reliable presence at his children’s many events and activities while always finding creative ways to show Jessica how much he loved her.

With family always the focal point, Wayne maintained a close relationship with his parents and sisters. Wayne was considered a skilled handyman and could be relied upon to fix almost anything. He was also as meticulous with his yard as with any project.

Wayne’s robust personality will be deeply missed by all. The legacy he leaves behind in both his personal and professional life will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew him.

Viewing and Memorial Service location: Lighthouse Church 6691 Bay Meadow Drive, #200, Glen Burnie, MD 21060

Public Viewing: 1100 – 1330 Hours

Memorial Service: 1400 hours

There will be a procession from the funeral home (Singletons Funeral Home) to the church (Lighthouse) at approximately 9:30a – 10:00a and again after the service, returning to the funeral home between 4:00p – 4:30p.
