How did Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo die?

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) South Sudan Communication and Innovations Analyst Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo passed away suddenly.

This sad news was announced by the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi on its social media in the following statement.

MISA Malawi is deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden death of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) South Sudan Communication and Innovations Analyst Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo.

Golden Matonga, Chairperson of MISA Malawi made a tribute to her, by saying,

“She will be remembered as a dedicated and ambitious communications professional who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the vulnerable, more especially rural women.”

Our condolences go to the Mkandawire and Taulo families, colleagues at the UNDP, and the media fraternity.

Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo cause of death:

Former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation Reporter, Nomsa Taulo passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, after a short illness. She died shortly after arriving in Malawi. 

It was reported that Nomsa passed away yesterday at a hospital in Lilongwe, just one day after she arrived from Juba. 

Since her time with Save the Children, she has worked on a child-friendly journalism project in Malawi before her death.

Numerous members of the media and public expressed their shock at her demise. Tributes flooded social media after the demise news of Taulo broke out.

Who was Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo?

Nomsa was a journalist and communications expert. She worked as a reporter, editor, and producer for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) from 2004 until 2012.

After that she joined Save the Children International as a Campaigns and Communications Specialist. Later, Nomsa worked as a communications officer for the Spotlight Initiative at the United Nations in Malawi. By 2022, she had joined UNDP South Sudan.

She was described as a kind person and also a hardworking woman by her friends and coworkers.

Funeral service:

Nomsa’s funeral starts at 12:30 Starting Off the Goodwill Funeral Parlour in Area 4 and at 12:45, Prayers will be conducted and departure for Blantyre.

In Blantyre straight to College of Medicine Mortuary where an autopsy will take place. Details of burial details in Blantyre will be announced later.
