Dahrran Diedrick, a former Canadian football running back passed away from brain cancer at the age of 44.

Who was Dahrran Diedrick?

Dahrran Diedrick was a former professional Canadian football running back in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was born on January 11, 1979, in Canada.

He was selected by the Edmonton Eskimos in the third round of the 2002 CFL Draught and later signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2003.

Diedrick spent eight seasons with the Montreal Alouettes, where he won two Grey Cups. He participated in Nebraska’s collegiate football team.

Dahrran also played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Green Bay Packers, and Washington Redskins. In 2014, he was diagnosed with hepatosplenic gamma-delta T-cell lymphoma, which caused his professional football career to end during the CFL season.

After undergoing numerous rounds of chemotherapy and having his enormous spleen removed in August 2015, he received a stem cell transplant in June 2016 with his daughter Dominique serving as the donor.

As of September 2017, he was in better health and he worked as the Toronto Argonauts’ strength and conditioning coach during the 2017 campaign.

Dahrran Diedrick passed away shortly after 2:00 AM on June 24, 2023, at Toronto General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was 44 years old.

Diedrick had hepatosplenic gamma-delta T-cell lymphoma, a very uncommon and aggressive variant of the disease that develops in the spleen or liver. He was cancer free from 2017 and he was diagnosed with a brain cancer last year.

Diedrick cause of death was a brain cancer. Tributes flooded social media after his demise news broke out.
