One Lap’s family experienced yet another loss. After a protracted and heroic struggle with cancer, Enrique Ramirez finally lost the fight. Everyone who knew him felt they were fortunate to have him as a friend.

He was kind to everyone, constantly helpful, a big supporter of the event, and the model of the kind of person we should all strive to be.

Who was Enrique Ramirez?

Enrique Ramirez was a Former racer at Tire Rack One Lap of America. He used to volunteer for charities that helped underprivileged kids.

Enrique Ramirez founded Racing for the Children in 1999 to generate funds and publicity for the Save the Children charity. To improve the lives of children in need, Save the Children works hard every day. The group operates as a nonprofit, apolitical, and nonsectarian entity in more than 35 countries, including the United States.

Ramirez said,

“We get a lot more satisfaction out of our efforts knowing we are racing for such a worthy cause, after all, the children are our future.”

As a volunteer with the Gilbert Police Department, he assisted with events, performed simple patrol duties, and upheld town ordinances. He participated in recruiting and local events. He formerly oversaw the teams in charge of hospitality, adventure programs, Road America’s Driving School and Motorcycle School, as well as other business events and programs.

He also coordinated arrive-and-drive programs, testing, and vehicle debuts at Road America with automakers. For events to go successfully and for us to surpass our customers’ expectations, he has established excellent relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, and other parties.

 

How did Enrique Ramirez die?

Former Tire Rack One Lap of America racer Enrique Ramirez passed away.

The heartbreaking information has been posted on Facebook by Tire Rack One Lap of America.

It read,

“The One Lap family suffered another loss yesterday. Eric Ramirez called to share that Enrique finally succumbed to his long, valiant battle with cancer. For those that knew him, we were lucky to have him as a friend. He was gracious to all, helpful always, a great supporter of the event and the embodiment of a person we should all achieve to be.

Over the last few years he came to One Lap, we all feared that each would be his last but his tenacity, and friends, belied his suffering so he could be with us.”

He cherished the one lap and the one lappers with all of his heart and had a passionate affection for everything cars. The loss of this amazing friend and parent has wounded all of his friends in the automotive industry, and they are all in grief.

We regret to have to let you know that Enrique Ramirez lost his fight with kidney cancer and died. For the past few years, he has been fighting kidney cancer.

Despite the fact that he was battling cancer, Each time he attended One Lap during the past few years, everyone worried it would be his last, but his persistence and the support of his friends concealed his agony so he could be with everyone. He was a fantastic father, friend, and human.

Everyone knows that no one can step into his shoes, but they can only hope to stay a part of this incredible group and keep running for him.

 

Tributes to Enrique Ramirez

The passing of Enrique Ramirez has sparked an outpouring of sympathy for the Ramirez family from the racing community and beyond.

SCI vehicle repair shop wrote: “Very sad to hear a long time friend and automotive enthusiast has passed away. We worked with Enrique Ramirez at the shop on his first Tire Rack One Lap of America car. I believe it was 1997-98. He was great to have in the shop and always had a smile. If you follow this link you will see that he had many friends in the Automotive world and they are all hurting from the loss of this great friend and father. ”

Ryan Catucci wrote: “Rest In Peace, Enrique. You befriended a couple lap puppies over 20 years ago and were always a friend during our subsequent runs. See you on the other side of the finish line ❤️

Losing a loved one is among the hardest experiences anybody can have in life. Any journey must have a final destination. Sadly, the person’s time on earth has now come to an end with their death. We wish him eternal peace and send our thoughts and prayers to his loved ones, family, friends.
