Family and friends in Merced are mourning the death of a youngster, who died as a result of a brawl, according to police. Anthony Duran’s family is now demanding an explanation for his death. Tonight, they are pleading for justice and calling it an attack.
Anthony Duran was discovered unconscious at the Rockin’ Jump located at 1230 W. Main St. in Merced at 5 O’clock, according to Merced police.
According to authorities, witnesses saw Duran and another child engage in a brief physical altercation while playing basketball with other kids.
The other kid fled as Duran passed out. Bystanders began CPR on Duran until first responders arrived and took control. He was taken urgently to a nearby hospital, where he eventually passed away from his wounds.
Detectives will collaborate with the Merced County Coroner’s Office to identify the cause of death, according to the police. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm his cause of death.

Police investigation continues…
The incident was caught on surveillance camera at the Rockin’ Jump. Detectives watched the video and interviewed 35 witnesses, including staff workers, parents, and kids who were present during the scene.
According to the press statement, detectives claimed to have located and spoken with the parents of the other kid involved in the altercation.
