The Airbrush community lost one of the world’s greatest Airbrush artists and Human beings tonight Kiwi Terry Stephens, Auckland, NZ. New Zealand’s award-winning airbrush artist, Terry “Kiwi” Stephens passed away.

Terry’s artistic talents were nothing short of remarkable, but beyond that, he held a special place as a cherished friend and a genuine gentleman.

With heavy hearts today, the family learned of and announced the sudden passing of Uncle Terry Stephens, in Huntington Beach, California.  He will be greatly missed and remembered for his infectious personality, Obscene jokes & stories, and his incredible world-class artistic talent!

A great man who lived life on his terms, and whose talents will live on in his countless masterpieces, students, and people he helped and taught. I’ll be forever grateful for the time we spent hanging out and learning some tricks of your craft shortly before you departed NZ. Fly high Uncle Tezza!

I am at a loss. I received some drifting news this evening. My dear friend Terry Stephens has passed away. Another amazing artist gone. Over the past few years. Terry has become a member of my family coming down to Nevada to work on projects with me. Terry you will forever be in our hearts. “KIWI” TERRY STEPHENS: What we know about him.

Terry was recognized as New Zealand’s award-winning airbrush artist. Stephens embarked on his airbrushing journey at the young age of 16, cultivating it as a hobby.

Progressing swiftly, he established himself as a professional artist in his home country of New Zealand, dedicating several years to honing his craft.

In 1999, drawn to the United States—recognized as a hub for all things airbrushing and customization—he joined the team at Huntington Beach Bodyworks.

Beyond his role at the shop, Stephens became a sought-after collaborator, extending his expertise to assist other studios and artists with their creative endeavors.

Presently, Terry is deeply engaged in crafting a series of paintings intended for future release in print, and he finds fulfillment as an instructor, sharing his knowledge across a diverse range of classes.

Renowned for his vivacious and dynamic automotive mural and graphics style, Kiwi’s artistic identity is synonymous with high energy. Often referred to as the ‘Skull King,’ Terry’s profound familiarity with the airbrush has been garnered through countless hours of practice, rendering him a knowledgeable and engaging educator.

Terry about his profession

My name is Terry Stephens but because of my accent, most who know me call me Kiwi Terry, as I originate from New Zealand. Now living in the USA I’m best known for my Airbrush work in the Custom Automotive Industry.

Teaching at the Airbrush Action Getaway block courses run 3 times a year, twice in Las Vegas and once in Florida is another activity I enjoy.

I also write how-to articles for Airbrush Action Magazine and perform Airbrush demos at various industry events and shows for a variety of products.

Also worked in the Airbrush fine art field and displayed my pieces in Galleries in Orange County California. As well as providing artwork for different products and novelty products.
