Baldwin Beach Express crash
The horrible catastrophe that occurred on the Baldwin Beach Express last Sunday has claimed a fourth life. Four people lost their life in a collision on the Baldwin Beach Express at County Road 48 on Sunday afternoon, and an Elberta man is now in jail.
According to representatives of the Robertsdale Police Department, officers arrived at the scene of the collision at 2:38 p.m. and discovered two people dead inside of a car. Numerous others had been taken to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries. As a result of the event, according to police, another victim passed away at Sacred Heart.
Christie Lowe, 47, and Margaret Lowe, 19, both of Pelham, as well as Daryl Speegle, 64, and Jeanna Speegle, the Trussville-based wife of PCI CFO Daryl “Tim” Speegle, have been named as the deceased victims by the authorities.
A black pickup truck driven by Christie Lowe and her daughter, Margaret, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by David Arthur Colburn, 60, of Elberta, collided with the back of the vehicle.
The incident caused the pickup to cross the median and into advancing northbound traffic, where it collided with Tim and Jeanna Speegle’s GMC Yukon. While Tim and Jeanna Speegle were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, where Tim Speegle passed away later that day, Lowe and her daughter were pronounced dead at the scene.
At first, Jeanna Speegle’s status was labelled as critical. Both the pickup driver and the two youngsters inside were hurt. On Thursday, there was no immediate word on their health.
According to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians (PCI), Jeanna Speegle, the wife of PCI CFO Daryl “Tim” Speegle, who passed away shortly after the accident, had died from her wounds.
PCI Tribal Chair & CEO Stephanie Bryan said,
“Today, my heart is heavy as I received the news of the passing of Jeanna Speegle, the wife of our CFO Tim Speegle,”
“It’s devastating to hear that innocent lives, like theirs, were cut short by that terrible auto accident this past Sunday on the Beach Express.”
“Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to Speegle family, and the other victims of that terrible accident,”
“We know there is power in prayer and ask the community to join us in remembering Tim and Jeanna.”
Who was Jeanna Speegle?
Tim Speegle has served as PCI’s CFO since 2015. The Speegle family resides in Trussville. Tim moved his family from Birmingham to the Loxley region after accepting a job with Poarch Creek. His wife Jeanna joined him. Two children and one grandchild belong to Tim and Jeanna.
He earned an accounting degree from the University of Alabama. He is a Certified Public Accountant as well. Tim has almost two years of service with the Tribe. He started working for the Tribe on October 12, 2015. Tim has over 36 years of accounting and financial management experience, and the Tribe greatly benefits from this background and knowledge.
Tim worked for Sterne, Agee & Leach, one of the biggest and oldest privately-owned financial services firms in the country outside of Wall Street, before joining the Tribe. He claims that the Tribe appealed to him since it offered a special challenge within a fast expanding organization.
Following the announcement of the news, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians issued a statement:
“As many of you may have learned Tim Speegle, our CFO, was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Sunday. Like so many others who were lucky to know Tim, we are deeply grieving his passing, and we are praying for his much-loved wife, Jeanna, who sustained critical injuries in the accident and remains hospitalized.
“Tim was a good man, through and through. He was generous, smart, funny, and deeply committed to our Tribe and its success. Tim’s contributions to the Poarch community will be felt for generations to come, and we hope that his and Jeanna’s children, grandchildren, mothers and extended family find some comfort in that.
“On a personal level, Tim was a friend to us all. He could be counted on in the worst of times to do the right thing and to make good decisions. In good times, he was a joy to be around – a caring man who loved his family, enjoyed life to the fullest, and was incredibly thoughtful and caring to others.
“Tim’s sudden passing is a sad reminder to all of us that we should appreciate each and every day and never miss an opportunity to tell those we care about how much they are loved.”
