Jacob Lewis was hit and killed on the Southwest Motorway early on Saturday morning after leaving the Taylor Swift event.

Jacob Lewis’ father shared the devastating news on Facebook,

“Early Saturday morning, we lost our son Jacob Lewis. On their way back from the Taylor Swift concert, April Bancroft and Jacob had car trouble on the freeway. They made it to the shoulder, and Jacob was pushing the car to the nearby exit, when they were rear-ended. Jacob died instantly.”

The victim, Jacob Lewis, and his sister were reportedly driving home after Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” event at NRG Stadium when their car stalled in the northbound lane of US-59 and Shepherd Drive, according to officials.

According to HPD, Lewis’ sister was hospitalized after suffering just minor wounds.

Physically, April Bancroft is in good shape, but she claimed that she has never felt worse. She witnessed the alleged drunk driver strike her brother.

She said,

“I immediately ran to him and called 911, And that was it.”

Bancroft has a few final recollections of her younger brother, but not the one she had promised would stick with her from Friday night. Bancroft and Lewis were getting ready to see Taylor Swift together only a few hours before the accident.

She said,

“Knowing we had that experience as our last memory is something wonderful to hold on to, and I will forever.”

According to HPD, Lewis was moving the stalled-out vehicle when a driver in a Volkswagen Beetle struck him from behind, caused an accident, and then drove away. Police said that Lewis passed away there.

Who is Alan Bryant Hayes?

The suspect, 34-year-old Alan Bryant Hayes, was spotted by a nearby tow truck driver, who then followed him to the 4500 block of Caroline Street before calling the police.

Hayes attempted to flee on foot but was caught shortly after by HPD police. Bancroft stated that it’s fortunate that there are bars between them and that Hayes is being held by a $90,000 bail.

She said, “Part of me knows I should not get anywhere near him with what I want to do to him because this just breaks my heart.”

For a medical checkup, Hayes was brought to St. Joseph’s Hospital. He faces charges for both DWI and failing to stop and offer help. According to court documents, Hayes had already faced two DWI charges. According to records, Hayes had DWI offences in 2014 and 2015.

Who was Jacob Lewis?

According to his father, Jacob Lewis was taking a year off from Sam Houston State University to work and planned to return as a sophomore with a degree in musical theatre in the fall. Additionally, the 20-year-old enjoyed performing music, singing, and competing in the Pokemon World Championships.

Lewis is recognized as a gifted thespian, son, brother, and uncle who was also a terrific friend. He played during his time in high school and at Stages, a theatre for professionals.

Lewis recently received a scholarship to study musical theatre at Sam Houston State University.

In order for other musical theatre students to fulfil the dream that was stole from Jacob, the family intends to establish a scholarship fund in the Katy Independent School District in his honor.
