How did Mystic Meg die?
Mystic Meg died just weeks after being admitted to the hospital with the flu. Meg, the iconic astrologer, who became famous with her weekly National Lottery predictions, died this morning at 3.45 a.m.
Tributes have flooded in for the star, who resided alone in a three-bedroom flat in Notting Hill with her seven cats. She had earlier claimed that the animal companions had “found her and moved in.”
Her 34-year agent David Shapland told that ‘Without any question, she was Britain’s most famous astrologer by a million miles.
Last month, the horoscope reader, real name Margaret Lake, was admitted with the flu to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.
‘Nobody came close to Meg in that respect. She was followed by millions in this country and also around the world.
‘She even became part of the English language – if a politician, somebody from showbiz or ordinary people in the street are asked a tricky question they will say ”Who do you think I am, Mystic Meg?”… It shows what an impact she made.’
Who was Mystic Meg?
Margaret Anne Lake, better known by her stage name Mystic Meg was an English astrologer who published a monthly astrology column in The Sun and the News of the World.
She also served as the presenter of Sun Bingo’s Mystic Meg’s Wheel of Destiny. She gained more fame when she presided over a segment that was aired on a regular basis during the 1994 National Lottery draw’s first broadcast.

Meg took English classes at the University of Leeds. She began as a sub-editor for the News of the World and then became an assistant editor of its weekend color supplement Sunday.

Career:
Mystic Meg appeared on The National Lottery Live on a weekly basis in ‘Mystic Meg Predicts,’ a 45-second reading in which Meg tried to predict facts about the future winner between 1994 and 2000.
She made predictions for the coming year in the first edition of the News of the World each year. These predictions were a popular feature of the paper, and Meg gained many followers as a result.
Meg collaborated with Gala Coral Group as the face of their Grand National “You’re Guaranteed a Fortune” marketing campaign in April 2015.
Meg possessed several racehorses through her Bedford-based company, Mystic Meg Limited. Among the horses are Astrodonna, Astroangel, and Astronova, as well as others with celestial names.
She started a website in 2015 that offers personalized readings, horoscopes, and a phone hotline maintained by some of her favorite professional psychics.
On January 2, 2015, she departed The Sun. Her name would become a stock answer to a difficult question in British politics.
Mystic Meg cause of death:
Mystic Meg died of influenza on March 9, 2023. Her agent, Dave Shapland, told how he once said he was going to Lingfield races and asked for her for tips. Five won. Dave asked her; “How did you do that?” She replied;” I am Mystic Meg you know.”

“For more than two decades Mystic Meg has been a must-read column and cemented her as Britain’s most famous astrologer. She was a true professional whose guidance helped our readers daily – our postbag bears testament to this.
“One of my favorite memories of Meg is when all the Spice Girls came to the office, just as they were riding high at number one. We planned a tour for them, but all they wanted to do was meet Mystic Meg.
“You know you’re a true icon when the only person Victoria Beckham is interested in are you. “Farewell Meg. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.”, Newton added.
Mystic Meg, the Sun astrologer for decades, has died in London aged 80. Meg Lake learned her trade from her Romany grandmother. Never married (the big love of her life died in a crash) she made millions from the stars. She owned racehorses at Newmarket and loved cats. RIP.
