The US Virgin Islands Police Department reported that Jamie Cail, 42, was discovered unconscious at a house she shared with her boyfriend in St. John.
At the time, the boyfriend told authorities that he had been at a bar and had left after midnight.
“When he arrived, he discovered his girlfriend on the floor,” according to police. The death was reported to police at 2.39 a.m. (US) on Tuesday.
“This case is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau,” according to the authorities. This happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday, according to police.
How did Jamie Cail die?
Cail, 42, was discovered dead in the home she shared with her boyfriend six days ago.
According to the statement by the police, “At approximately 12:08 am, a male left a local bar to check on his girlfriend at their residence.”.
“Upon his arrival, he discovered his girlfriend on the floor. With assistance from a friend, the male was able to get the female to a nearby vehicle and transported the female to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic.”
“Once at the clinic, CPR was rendered and 911 was notified, however, the female succumbed to her ailment. The female was identified by her boyfriend as 42-year-old, Ms. Jamie Cail from New Hampshire.”
Cail was transported to a nearby clinic by the man and a friend, but efforts to save her life were unsuccessful, and she was later declared dead.
Her death is being investigated, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division.
Who was Jamie Cail?
Cail was a teenage swimmer from the United States during the 1990s. In 1998-1999, she competed for the US national B team at the FINA World Cup in Brazil, where she won a silver medal in the 800m freestyle event.
As a teenager, she was a member of the United States relay team that won gold at the Pan Pacific Championships in 1997.
She still holds school records from her days competing in under-16 events. She was born and raised in Claremont, New Hampshire.
According to swimswam.com, she swam for the famed Bolles School in Jacksonville and also competed for the University of Maine’s women’s swim team from 2000-2001.
