How did Officer Brandon Tsai die?

According to Grand Prairie police, 32-year-old Officer Brandon Tsai was killed after his car collided with a light pole. Tsai spotted an automobile with false license plates close to the intersection of Pioneer Parkway and Southwest 3rd Street at 10:45 p.m.

Officer Tsai attempted to stop the car, but it immediately took off, according to a statement from police spokesman Mark Beseda. Officer Tsai lost control of his police car during the pursuit, forcing it to crash into a light pole. Firefighters immediately transported Tsai to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he passed away, according to Beseda.

Officer Brandon Tsai joined the Grand Prairie Police Department in January. According to investigators, he previously spent five years working at the Los Angeles Police Department in California.

On Monday, November 14, 2022, Officer Brandon Tsai was involved in a vehicle chase for capturing a car with a false number plate. But unfortunately, during the chase, he collided with the car against the pole and he passed away. Officer Brandon Tsai cause of death was an accident.

In the statement, Beseda said of the deceased, “He was a devoted friend, a valued colleague, and an amazing cop whose passion was providing service to the people.”

The accident is still being investigated. Texas law enforcement claims that fake tags, which are created with false names, VIN numbers, and addresses, can be challenging for authorities to trace, and have long been a source of concern.

Law enforcement organizations in Nevada and New York have complained that automobiles involved in crimes are being issued counterfeit Texas license plates. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles director resigned earlier this year amid intense criticism of how the organization handled the proliferation of fake tags.

Funeral arrangements for Tsai have not yet been made public by the department.

Officer Tsai’s death was announced by the Grand Prairie Police Department. The death statement released by the department says,

“It is with heavy hearts that we report Officer Brandon Paul Tsai passed away after being involved in a traffic collision.”

“At around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, Officer Tsai was near the intersection of SW 3rd and Pioneer Parkway when he located a vehicle displaying a fictitious paper license plate. Officer Tsai attempted to stop the vehicle which immediately fled. During the pursuit, Officer Tsai lost control of his squad car causing it to strike a light pole.”, the police report stated.
