Who was Ryan Murgatroyd?

Ryan Murgs worked as an audio engineer for Carlson Audio Systems. Up until his passing, he worked at the Neptune Theatre. He has worked as a manager and main audio engineer at Showbox Presents and El Corazon among many other locations.

Ryan was well-liked in the Seattle music community. He will always be a part of the Seattle musical community. Everyone there benefited from his light and kindness, and they are happier for having had the opportunity to work with him.

Many people called Ryan a unique sound engineer who had a great passion for what he did. Many people also praised him for being a decent partner and parent to his son.

Longtime New York resident Ryan Murgatroyd passed away on June 29, 2023, as a result of a tragic accident.

The heartbreaking information was announced on Facebook by The Home Team Band.

Ryan was so many amazing things to so many people. He was a stalwart behind the soundboards for bands travelling the globe. He participated actively in self-help groups where he assisted in rescuing other people from sorrow. Ryan was the kind of friend who could make any situation better. A self-contained explosion of joy, laughter, and character. Above all, he was a devoted parent and husband.

Ryan Murgatroyd, DJ & songwriter from Seattle, WA, passed away unexpectedly. Prior to his death, he remained in the ICU for several days. His untimely passing exploded like a quiet bomb, swallowing out all the warmth and happiness.

Aaron Hauck and Giselle Rizzardi, two of his pals, have started a gofundme page for his family. Though his departure left an incredible void in his friend groups, it was nothing compared to the crater he left in his family. His son Judah will start seventh grade at the end of the summer, while his wife Sarah is enrolled in nursing school. Ryan had been the family’s sole earner while Sarah was enrolled in school.

All of the money raised will be used to support them. The family flew to another state where Ryan spent many days in the ICU due to an emergency. Sarah still has schoolwork to complete and Judah to take care of. The amount of money that is listed as a goal is intended to reflect how serious the situation is.

As we grieve alongside family and friends for this significant loss, words can’t adequately express our sorrow for their loss. We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of this young being.

Chris Gazel wrote: “Rest in peace to my friend Ryan Murgatroyd. He is 100% the reason I ever got into doing Live Sound, and he got me my first job working in Live Sound at El Corazón in Seattle. He showed me the ropes of working in a music venue and was a mentor to me. He was always fun, positive, and kind. We toured together and learned a lot together and I will miss him deeply.”
