Ryan Meert accident:
Ryan, a well-known teacher died after falling into a grain silo in Cooper Township, Kalamazoo County, and becoming trapped inside.
Cooper Township Fire and Rescue personnel responded to an industrial accident in the 300 block of East B Avenue around 1:40 p.m., according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
What happened to Ryan Meert?
Ryan trapped within the tank, while working in a grain silo on Thursday, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
The worker sank underneath the grain and died, deputies said. It’s being treated as an accidental death, according to Undersheriff Jim VanDyken.
Several organisations, including Portage, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Kalamazoo Township, Oshtemo Township, Life EMS, and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, assisted in the worker’s rescue.
Meert was apparently working in a grain silo when Ryan was perceived and went under the silo’s contents, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency personnel eventually extricated Ryan and pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim was eventually evacuated. The investigation into what happened is still ongoing. The family will announce Ryan Meert’s obituary and funeral arrangements.
