Late Thursday night on the west side of Wichita, a two-vehicle crossover incident claimed the life of one person, according to investigators. On Thursday night, just south of W. Central Avenue, on Interstate 235, a collision was reported at 10:44 p.m.
According to the Kansas Interstate Patrol, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound in the right lane of the interstate when it struck the right side of a 2013 Suzuki SX4 passenger car that was northbound on I-235 in the right lane.
Kassandra A. Ramos, 22, of Wichita, the Suzuki’s driver, was declared dead at the scene. Ramos, who was driving alone, was reportedly wearing a seatbelt, according to the police.
The Jeep’s 38-year-old Newton driver, April R. Fisher, is said to have suffered only minor injuries. The patrol reported that Fisher was buckled up. Fisher wasn’t listed as having been taken to a hospital in the patrol’s online crash log.
