“It is a huge shock, Jarvis. “I attended an event where he was last night and he seemed to be in good health. It is a huge loss because he loved Davidson County and he loved North Carolina. As a legislator, he was well respected by all of his colleagues on both sides of the isle. He was a true servant to this community, and he will be missed.”

Who is Stan Bingham?
Bingham was born in Winston-Salem in 1945 and brought up in Clemmons. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science in forestry in 1968. Stan Bingham and his wife Lora raised 4 children, Andrea, Heather, Claudia, and Natasha, in Denton. He founded Bingham Lumber in 1979 and sold it in 2012. In 1995, Bingham also started The Denton Orator, a weekly publication for which he was the publisher.
Bingham introduced and passed 171 bills during his time in office, many of which were related to consumer protection. He won the 2000 election for NC Senate District 33. He served eight terms in the Senate before retiring in 2017. Bingham’s first entry into politics was a one-term stint on the Davidson County Board of Commissioners from 1990 to 1994. He was chosen in 2000 to represent the Davidson and Guilford counties in North Carolina’s Senate District 33. In 2016, he finished his eighth term, and in 2017, he left the Senate.
Denton Mayor Larry Ward said Bingham’s death is a significant loss for Davidson County and for him personally as a friend. Ward added, “He was a friend to everyone, and would talk to anyone about just about everything,” said Ward. “He was also a good mentor to me and helped me out on a lot of things. It is a huge loss for Southern Davidson”
