Pine Bluff Police statement on the shooting
The Pine Bluff Police Department sent officers to #1 Hillcroft St. on August 30, 2023, shortly after 2:00 AM, in response to a reported gunshot. When the police arrived, they discovered that two men, a 43-year-old and a 26-year-old had been shot.
Investigations are currently being conducted into this homicide. This is Pine Bluff’s 19th homicide of the year. Taggart, the former CEO of the Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency, is currently in jail on theft charges involving 667K in tax money.
What happened to Maurice Taggart?
Early on Wednesday morning, following a domestic dispute, Maurice Taggart, a former director of the Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency, was shot to death and his son was wounded.
A shooting was reported at 1 Hollcroft St., which is close to the Pine Bluff Country Club, a little after 2 a.m. on Wednesday. When they got there, they discovered that two males, 43-year-old Maurice Taggart and his 26-year-old son Justice Taggart, had been shot.
Maurice Taggart passed away from his injuries at Jefferson Regional Medical Centre after they were both transported there. Justice Taggart’s condition is stable. The homicide allegedly started as a domestic disturbance, according to witnesses, according to authorities.
