Vince Hill’s illness before passing

Hill had a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2004 and had successful keyhole surgery. He was also found to have chronic myeloid leukemia a year later after a routine blood test.

The sickness was successfully treated and brought under control. His autobiography, ‘Another Hill to Climb’ (Bank House Books), which he co-wrote with Nick Charles, was published in 2010.

In October 2010, Hill was named a Patron of The Macular Society. In 2011, Hill was diagnosed with AMD, which was a major factor in his hesitant decision to stop performing live.

Hill helped society fight macular illness by donating all of the revenue from sales of his “Legacy” greatest hits CD to the organization.

Additionally, Hill published a 2021 charity calendar in limited supply, with all proceeds going to The Macular Society Hill just had a stroke, it was announced on Twitter in August 2021.

Vince, who was losing his sight to Macular Disease, said:

“I am thrilled to become a Patron of The Macular Society! I have Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) in my eyes. It’s been coming on for years, and my consultant registered me in 2019 as Partially Sighted. And following that, I started to explore what support was out there for me as I knew my condition was incurable and only going to get worse!

The Macular Society charity was wonderfully supportive, offering me counseling by phone, which helped me come to terms with my diagnosis. I am absolutely in sympathy that this life-changing disease does not get as much publicity as some medical conditions do, which is why I wanted to use my celebrity to help raise awareness and support.

Who was Vincent Hill?

Vincent Hill was an English traditional pop music singer and songwriter best known for his recording of the Rodgers and Hammerstein show tune “Edelweiss” (1967), which reached No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart (staying on the chart for 17 weeks).

On April 16, 1934, Vincent Hill was born in Holbrooks, Coventry. At the age of seventeen, he had his professional singing debut in Margate, Kent at a pub called The Prospect.

However, after working as a baker, truck driver, and coal miner, he decided to pursue music full-time. His first big break occurred when he saw an ad for a vocalist for The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals in the “Melody Maker” magazine.

One of the most recognizable and successful singing singers in Britain is VINCE HILL, who is instantly recognizable. With the help of popular singles, illustrious performances, and TV and radio shows, he established a name for himself both nationally and internationally.

He has since gone on multiple US tours, including a run of sold-out performances with the Florida Symphony Orchestra. Future concerts are already being organized thanks to the American link, which resulted in US representation. But Vince has had success before.

Almost every major venue in the world is represented on his amazing list of performances, including the Sydney Opera House, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and the renowned London Palladium.

Aside from recording, he has frequently performed as a guest performer with renowned orchestras and bands, such as the legendary Squadronaires and the renowned BBC Big Band, with whom he has made numerous TV and radio appearances.

Vince also enjoys singing in front of Her Majesty The Queen at the “Celebrity Concerts” held on board the QE2 and P&O’s flagship Oriana.
