Syracuse shooting: What happened?
Karlianne Short, a 17-year-old girl, was killed on Wednesday morning after being shot on East Fayette Street.
According to Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a Syracuse Police spokesperson, police were called to 2002 E. Fayette St. at 10:04 p.m. on Tuesday after someone reported hearing gunshots.
Malinowski claimed that at about the same time, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the back and sent to Crouse Hospital. He stated that she had been declared deceased at the hospital.
Karlianne Short death:
The girl’s identity and other information regarding the shooting were withheld by the police. However, the girl’s family and friends discovered about her identity as Karlianne Short and have begun to voice their outrage and sorrow over the situation.
Stephanie Parler, Karlianne’s Inherited Mother, expressed her love and sorrow for not being able to give Karlianne to experience adulthood in a post.
Karlianne’s Inherted Mother, Stephanie Parler, wrote,
“17 yrs old just walked the stage less than 2 weeks ago didn’t even have the chance to experience adulthood .
I’m so sorry u had to go thru wat u did I’m so sorry u weren’t able to make it home last night Tfd Karli I love u so much u will forever be my (inherited) daughter.”
Marquila Grey, her sister, has been openly expressing her sorrow and outrage on Facebook.
She wrote,
“Not my fuc$$$$ sister Tfd Karli like nooooooo mannnn no she was a sister a auntie n all that sister I love u soooooo much baby I’m sooooo mad I’m angry I’m hurt I’m sad
R.I.P baby girl love u sis””
“I really need to smoke I’m really going through it like not my sister it’s hard to believe man sis I love u

A short distance from Syracuse’s Boys and Girls Club and next to the Parkside Commons apartment building, the shooting occurred.
The incident was responded to by deputies from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, state police, and Syracuse police.
