Martinsville shooting:
According to Chief of Police Rob Fincher, the gunshot happened while Brandon was a passenger in a car that was moving along Commonwealth Boulevard West in the 300 block, close to Chopstix.
Detectives are gathering information for the investigation and following up on tips they have received from the public as it is still in its early stages.
Nyjeon Brandon death:
According to the police department, around 2:25 a.m. Nyjeon Dameae Brandon, 20, of Martinsville, was taken by unidentified bystanders with gunshot wounds to the Sovah Health emergency room.
Police said Brandon passed away as a result of those wounds shortly after arriving.
Nyjeon Brandon was an artist from Martinsville, Virginia, according to his Facebook page.
