He has aided thousands of people in overcoming obstacles in their lives. He will always be remembered for the gifts he offered to so many others. Keep reading to know more about Kam Yuen and his cause of death in detail.

Who was Kam Yuen?

Kam Yuen was a Chinese-born American martial arts expert. He served as a consultant and the stunt coordinator for the first season of Kung Fu.

Leung Kam-yuen was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters and was born in Hong Kong. Sifu Chan Chen-yee taught him Seven Star Praying Mantis, while Sifu Chiu Chuk-kai taught him Tai Chi and Mantis.

Later, he moved to the USA with his family, where he resumed his Northern Mantis training with Wong Jack-man, a mentor well known for his fight with Bruce Lee.

He began working at the Lockheed facility near San Jose in 1965 after earning a degree in mechanical engineering. He established the Tai Mantis Association and started his kung fu school.

Movie works

Later, Kam Yuen moved to Los Angeles and founded a health food business in addition to another kung fu school.

In addition, he performed for Keye Luke, who played Master Po in the show, and performed the parts of Wong Ti and Lin Wu.

David Carradine studied martial arts under Yuen. Kwai Chang Caine, the protagonist of the series, was said to have been inspired by Yuen; Carradine’s book, The Spirit of Shaolin, was dedicated to Kam. Yuen, a grandmaster of the Tai Mantis branch of Shaolin kung fu and the “Praying Mantis of North America” for his prowess in the fighting art, is best known for his roles in the films Project Eliminator and Circle of Iron, both of which he co-wrote with Bruce Lee and star Carradine as Red Band.

He was asked by Warner Brothers to work on the ‘Kung Fu’ show in 1972, where he trained David Carradine and filled in for him as well as taking on many other roles.

Kam Yuen and Carradine became lifelong friends. David kept up his training and briefly resided at the rear of Kam Yuen’s kwoon after the “Kung Fu” series was cancelled. For the Bruce Lee-written 1978 movie “The Silent Flute,” the two got back together.

His books

His writings on the subject have been collected in various volumes, including Beginning Kung-Fu and Technique and Form of the Three Sectional Staff in Kung Fu (Literary Links to the Orient). He was also inducted in 2012 to the Martial Arts History Museum’s Hall of Fame.

In addition, World Black Belt referred to him as a living legend. He wrote many self-help books on the subject, including Delete Pain and Stress On the Spot (co-authored with Greenberg), The Power of Instant Healing, Instant Rejuvenation, and Instant Pain Elimination.

“Yuen Method”

He consults with people who experience chronic pain as a chiropractor and concurrently. His method, which he co-founded with Marnie Greenberg, was formerly known as Yuen Energetics before being renamed the “Yuen Method”. Yuen and Greenberg claim that the Yuen Method “resets the mind, body, and spirit” after resetting “the exact causes of pain through feeling for the exact causes of pain…  weaknesses, then strengthening the deletion process for the deletion to take place.”

Thank you for being there for me. 3 months after working with Dr. Kam Yuen I got the role of “The Neighbors”, a role that virtually changed my life. I recall like today he was thrilled to hear about the news. Thank you for granting and providing me tools that I’ve used since I met you 9 years ago. Your tools have given me this sense of a secret weapon that I carried in my back pocket the last 9 years. A 35th Generation Shaolin Grandmaster that I looked up to, Im lucky and fortunate for the all the 1 on 1s you provided me. I was debating if I should share any personal stories of your contribution, there were so many that I got overwhelmed at the thought. I know deep in my heart you are connected to me. For now I will leave it at that. RIP Dr. Kam Yuen🙏❤️❤️

Judith Wilcox wrote: “I found out about an hour ago that Dr. Kam Yuen, my energetic healing teacher for 10 years, passed into the Light Saturday morning. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and students. I also remember him with gratitude for the gift of his knowledge which was one of the two major foundations stones for my receiving the channeled knowledge of the Shakti Swarupa Path of Healing. Without the Yuen Method I would not have been able to comprehend the work I have been doing and teaching for the past 12 years. May the Shaolin Kung Fu Masters and the ancestors on the other side embrace your soul and welcome you home Kam. Thank you for your gift of knowledge and your service to so many in this world. Be at peace. Your work is done here. It is time to rest your soul and revel in the company of your Masters.”

  1. I was fortunate enough to have obtained treatment from Dr. Yuen at his clinic in the West Valley. He was very patient with me and somehow with his unorthodox light striking treatments, removed pain in two parts of my body. I had always meant to locate him for the purpose of thanking him, and congratulating him on his lifetime accomplishments, so I came here only to find he has already sprang forward into his next life. I hope he will encourage his student David Carradine, who encouraged a lot of my generation to think differently in our youth.
Kam Yuen, you have always been and shall continue to be a victor, in every existence of life. I look forward to studying your wisdom again soon. With my deepest thanks, Mark Gaber

  2. Kam Yuen changed my life. Everything I believed or understood turned upside down when I started learning from him. His one-to-one meetings changed me and my sister 360 °. It was a rebirth after Sifu Kam came into our lives. I am genuinely grateful and fortunate to have him. Though he taught us to remove emotions and thinking, I feel the loss whenever I come across his images online or read anything. He was more than any mentor to me. Thank you, Kam, until we meet in a different dimension or in another form.
