Jenifer Centers-Buell, a pedestrian, was killed in a car accident, and the driver was critically hurt, according to the Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD). Keep reading to know more about it in detail.

 

Jenifer Centers-Buell dead: What happened?

The North Coos 911 Center (NC911) received multiple 911 reports of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on August 16, 2023, at around 1:05 p.m.

This collision occurred close to the intersection of 4th St. and Anderson Ave. The Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD), Coos Bay Fire Department (CBFD), and Bay Cities Ambulance (BCA) were all called by NC911 to the scene.

Officers arrived and discovered Coos Bay resident Jenifer Centers-Buell, 54, dead on the sidewalk.

Near the intersection of Fourth Street and Anderson Avenue, Ms. Centers-Buell was sitting against a building when a black pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into her and a dog. The nearest of kin of Ms. Centers-Buell have been informed.

Investigation Teams:

The Crash Team was asked by CBPD to assist with the crash investigation.

The Coos County District Attorney’s Office and regional law enforcement agencies are represented on the Crash Team. Bay Cities Ambulance transported the pickup truck’s driver, who had suffered critical injuries.

According to police, the driver’s name won’t be made public at this time because the investigation is still open.

The Coquille Indian Tribal Police, the Oregon State Police, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, the Coos County District Attorney’s Office, North Bend Police Department-Oregon (NBPD), Coos Health & Wellness (CH&W), Public Safety Chaplains, The Devereux Center, Coos Bay Fire Department (CBFD), Bay Cities Ambulance (BCA), and Mast Brothers Towing assisted the CBPD on the scene.

4th St. & Anderson Ave road closed?

In the vicinity of 4th St. & Anderson Ave., the Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) is on the scene and conducting an investigation. Right now, 4th Street between Anderson Avenue and Commercial Avenue has been closed down.

During the inquiry, the police asked that people prepare for possible road closures or traffic delays.
