Tom about his illness
Nebula’s long-running bassist Tom Davies has been identified as having leukaemia. Since then, a GoFundMe has been established to raise $15,000, and Ripple Music, the record label for Nebula, has issued a collection assembled by Davies with all earnings going to the man himself.
In Tom’s words, “Back in January I ended up in the ER with kidney stones which was followed by viral pneumonia and Bell’s Palsy and eventually led to me being diagnosed with a rare form of high-risk Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
As it’s a very complex form, I’ve had one round of intense chemotherapy so far and am facing many more treatments and hospital visits for the fight of my life.
On a positive note, my spirit is strong and has been strengthened by the overwhelming and incredible outpouring of support from the community.”

Leukemias are cancers that start in cells that would normally develop into different types of blood cells. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) starts in the bone marrow, but most often it quickly moves into the blood, as well. It can sometimes spread to other parts of the body including the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), and testicles. |
About Nebula (band)
Guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano formed Nebula, an American rock band, in 1997 after leaving Fu Manchu. Mark Abshire promptly joined the group as the original bassist and remained with them until they recorded Atomic Ritual, a noteworthy album produced by Chris Goss.
Dennis Wilson and Simon Moon (Eddie Glass) served as bassists until Tom Davies was identified as a more long-term substitute. In 2007, drummer Rob Oswald took over for founding member Ruben Romano.
In August 2009, the band brought on board Adam Kriney, a former member of La Otracina, to replace Oswald, the departing drummer. However, Kriney also announced his departure in January 2010, and Jimmy Sweet took his place.
Nebula declared an indefinite vacation at the beginning of 2010. Despite the fact that Nebula was only “taking a break for a while” and not breaking up, Glass subsequently said that “things started getting a little rough with the touring and I got sick of it.”
After reuniting in 2017, Nebula now includes Blaak Heat and Mondo Generator drummer Michael Amster. Heavy Psych Sounds Records made Holy Shit, the group’s sixth studio album, available on June 7, 2019. They released their seventh studio album, Transmission from Mothership Earth, on July 22, 2022.
