Who was Pamela Rene Leak?

Pamela Rene Leak is one of Baltimore’s most talented entertainers and unsung heroes. She was known for her comedic persona as “Ms. Maybelle,” a hip, older wise-cracking auntie.

Leak has performed at an Apollo fundraiser and is a frequent guest on Radio One’s WOLB Talk 1010 AM’s Larry Young Morning Show as Ms. Maybelle. She has also been a guest of Steve Harvey and appeared on the David Letterman Show.

Leak, who goes by Ms. Maybelle or Maybelle, had her radio program for a while called “Lunch with Maybelle” before COVID struck.

Ms. Maybelle captures the hearts of audiences wherever she performs. She has given performances in churches throughout Baltimore City, comedy clubs, and cruise ships.

Career:

Leak began her career in fashion and modeling by walking the runway as a plus-size model for Travis Winkey. The pandemic forced her to halt all in-person shows, but she continued performing with fashion shows.

The veteran entertainer made the audience laugh while riding an elephant as part of the UniverSoul Circus’s featured act. Additionally, she has a devoted fan base that regularly attends her appearances and events.

Former Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon awarded Ms. Maybelle a key to the city in 2009 for her work as Best Entertainer. Every year on October 23, Ms. Maybelle has the official day to visit City Hall and do whatever she wants!

Maybelle, as a persona, and Leak, as the real person, have a golden heart. Leak, as Ms. Maybelle, may be all laughs, but she is very serious about serving the unsheltered in Baltimore and caring for her 16-year-old son with cerebral palsy. Her heart belongs to him!
