A tragic vehicle crash near Towne Lake Parkway East, in Woodstock, Georgia, tragically took the lives of two teens and injured three other teens on January 9, 2024. Read on to know more about the Woodstock crash in detail.

Towne Lake Parkway accident:

According to reports, five teenagers were involved in a fatal car accident near the Towne Lake Parkway in Cherokee County on Tuesday night. It is understood that two of them passed away from the injuries and three others were taken to the hospital.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Law enforcement officers responded to the scene of a car accident in Woodstock, Georgia and found this horrible incident. The sheriff’s office reports that a Mazda 6 “left the roadway and struck a tree in the center median.”

According to the sheriff’s office, speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the wreck. The officers are actively investigating the crash. While the Woodstock community has been sending prayers to the teenagers and their families.

Carolyn Cunningham Shillcutt posted the following statement on social media after learning this terrible news, saying,

Praying for everyone involved in the accident on Towne Lake Parkway, she added.

Incident unfolds:

Cherokee County crash claimed the lives of two teens and injured three other pupils in the crash that happened after 9 p.m.

The sheriff’s office reported that a 17-year-old Marietta passenger died on the scene. After the other four teenagers in the car were brought to the hospital, one of them, a Woodstock teen, 17, passed away.

Another Marietta teenager, 17, had a serious injuries. The 17-year-old Smyrna driver and an 18-year-old from Tulsa, Oklahoma sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

None of the teenagers’ identities have been made public. According to the sheriff’s office, the collision is still being looked into by the Traffic Enforcement Unit.

Woodstock Police, Woodstock Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the scene of an accident on Town Lake Parkway. There is a heavy police presence at the scene.

The names of victims were not released until their families have been notified.

Road Closure and Community Impact

The aftermath of the incident led to the closure of a portion of Towne Lake Hills East Road, significantly impacting the areas nearby.

While authorities are still at the scene, a road has been closed due to traffic. Locals have been advised to stay away from the scene as law enforcement continues to investigate.

The victims’ identities were not released officially as it is kept under wraps. The Woodstock Police state that the investigation is still in its early phases.

One of the deceased victims was a former student of Etowah High School, which is located at Putnam Ford Dr. in Woodstock, GA. That victim belongs to 2022 batch, according to a letter from Principal Robert Horn to parents. There were no current Etowah High students involved in the crash.

“We know that some of our students knew him, and our school district’s crisis team and our school counselors are here if they need to talk about this loss,” said the principal.

“If your child is struggling with this loss, please let us know so our counselors know to reach out.”

The tragic loss of a young individuals in this road collision has left a deep impact on the community. The incident stands as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance while traveling, highlighting the devastating consequences of such accidents.
