According to Connecticut State Police, a catastrophic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 84 East in West Hartford Wednesday night resulted in the deaths of two people, one of whom was a toddler.
Police have named the deceased driver of the Subaru as Bristol resident Natalia Dudzinski, 26. Police reported that a 2-year-old child in her car was also slain.

I-84 crash in West Hartford: How did the accident happen?
At approximately 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, an accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-84 near Exit 44 in West Hartford.
According to state police, the driver of a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound in the left lane when, for reasons unknown, they lost control of the vehicle.
The Volkswagen crossed the grassy median and entered the left lane of the eastbound side of the highway, resulting in a collision with Natalia Dudzinski’s 2017 Subaru Impreza.
The impact pushed both vehicles into the center lane, where they collided with a truck. The truck’s driver managed to pull over in the left lane and the vehicles eventually came to a stop.
State police pronounced Dudzinski and Scott deceased at the scene, and the truck’s driver reported no injuries.
Authorities reported that the driver of the Volkswagen may have sustained minor injuries. Medical personnel transported her to Hartford Hospital, and later, a tow truck removed all three vehicles from the scene.
Regarding the possibility of filing charges against the Volkswagen driver, state police stated that they were still in the process of gathering information about the incident’s details.
On Wednesday night, law enforcement temporarily closed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-84 in the West Hartford area for several hours as they conducted an investigation at the crash scene.
