Jon Scott, a beat reporter for the Buffalo Bills, broke the initial news of his death. According to Scott, Williams passed away “following injuries suffered during an accident while working at a construction site“. 

Reports from multiple media outlets shed light on the unfortunate circumstances surrounding his untimely demise, revealing that it occurred as a result of a tragic accident at a construction site. 

As the details of the construction accident that claimed his life emerged, it served as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictability of fate.

 

How did the Buffalo Bills player die?

According to reports, tragedy struck on September 1 when a horrifying accident occurred. Williams suffered severe injuries after a steel beam fell on his head, resulting in a devastating head injury.

The consequences were grave, as his spinal cord ruptured, leading to a dire situation that required immediate medical attention.

In the wake of this horrific incident, Mike Williams was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU), where doctors and medical staff fought valiantly to save his life.

He was placed in a medically induced coma as part of the critical care process. Despite the best efforts of the medical team and the hopes of his family and supporters, Mike Williams tragically never regained consciousness.

Before Williams’ death, his mother created a GoFundMe page. 

Williams’ mother wrote

“As you can probably imagine, this is painful for me and has me distraught. I am asking those of you who watched Mike Williams, cheered for him, and seen him do wonderful things on and off the field to help me. I reside in Dallas Texas, and I need help with expenses to continue to travel back and forth to Tampa, Florida,”

Mike Williams, a former wide receiver with the Buffalo Bills, has reportedly passed away. Williams worked in the construction industry.

In a workplace accident, a steel beam landed on his head, badly injuring him and leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and in his right arm.

He was admitted to the hospital on September 1, 2023, as a result of breathing issues and unconsciousness. He was reported dead on September 5 at the age of 36. Mike Williams cause of death was confirmed as Accident injuries.

Accident details explained by his family

On a GoFundMe page created by Latrina Moore in Dallas, Williams’ father, Wendell Muhammad, detailed the accident that claimed his son’s life.

A steel beam fell on his head causing a massive head injury. As a result of this accident, there was swelling on his brain and swelling on his spinal cord that was ruptured.

These injuries resulted in complete paralysis in his right arm as well as his lower body from the waist down. On Friday, Sept 1, 2023, around 9 pm Mike Williams passed out.

According to doctors, he suffered from severe breathing problems and had to be rushed to ICU. This time the doctors found that his diaphragm was pressing on his lungs and subsequently caused complications with his breathing. They reported that his lungs were filled with water.

The doctors were able to free the diaphragm from pressing on his lungs, removing the water and allowing him to breathe a little better. Sadly, my son Mike Williams never gained consciousness.

He never woke up from the night of Sept 1, 2023, from what was reported to me as of Sept 4, 2023. Reportedly, on Sunday, Sept 3, 2023, he was induced and the Doctors have him on a scheduled time to try to wake him up in 3 days (God Willing).

As you can probably imagine, this is painful for me and has me distraught. I am asking those of you who watched Mike Williams, cheered for him, and saw him do wonderful things on and off the field to help me.


Mike Williams Biography

American football wide receiver Michael Anthony Williams died somewhere around September 5, 2023. He was born on May 18, 1987.

Mike attended Syracuse University where he played collegiate football before being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draught.

He has also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Attended Riverside Institute of Technology was Williams. He recorded 35 tackles and two interceptions on defense 970 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior.

Initial Career

Williams recorded 24 receptions for a team-high 461 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games as a true freshman at Syracuse in 2006. Mike was chosen for the second team of the All-Big East in 2007 as a sophomore.

Williams left the squad on November 3, 2009, fearing that he may be suspended for breaking team rules after getting into a car accident with teammates Antwon Bailey, Andrew Tiller, and Torrey Ball.

Buffalo Bills

Just one season after agreeing to an extension with the Buccaneers, Williams was traded to his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills, on April 4, 2014, in exchange for a 6th-round draught selection.

He reportedly asked the Bills for a trade on October 13, 2014. On December 8, 2014, Williams was added to the waived/injured list.

Mike was placed on the Bills injured reserve list the following day when his waiver request went unclaimed. Williams healed from his calf injury on December 22, 2014, and the Bills dismissed him.
