Late Sunday, the Corpus Christi community member, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly speeding on Wooldridge Road when she eventually struck a metal power pole, according to investigators.

Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department reported that they discovered the girl inside the car when they were called to the intersection of Manuel Lane and Wooldridge Road just after 4 p.m.
As emergency personnel worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle, they were forced to close multiple lanes of traffic, from Manuel Lane to Twin Drive.
Regrettably, this unforeseen event resulted in the untimely passing of Marissa Chavana from the Corpus Christi community, according to the CCPD Senior Officer Antonio Contreras.
The Corpus Christi Police Department is actively working to piece together the information on the collision, and additional updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.

Marissa Chavana drove through a red light at Cimarron Boulevard and speeded down Wooldridge, according to investigators, causing the single-vehicle collision. She eventually struck a metal power pole, according to reports, after failing to stay in a single traffic lane.
Marissa Chavana was taken to a nearby hospital immediately. The collision resulted in her injuries. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
