Born into the Gūwalgiya clan of the Bordered White Banner, she was of Manchu ethnicity. In 1998, she began working for ATV.

She occasionally starred in Hong Kong films and made appearances in award shows during this time. Kathy worked for ATV exclusively until 2001, at which point she moved to Beijing in search of new professional opportunities.

After some time, Chow joined TVB’s action series E.U., the follow-up to The Academy and On the First Beat, in March 2008. She has appeared in a few TVB series in recent years, but her main focus remains on mainland Chinese productions.
