Downtown Springfield shooting:
Chaviz Nguyen from Springfield, Missouri passed away unexpectedly in a downtown Springfield shooting.
It was reported that, after being shot in downtown Springfield on Tuesday night, one person died and another was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Around 8:20 p.m., the shots were fired close to the former Hollywood Theater, at the intersection of College St. and Grant Ave. According to the police, the two victims were inside another vehicle when shots were fired from one vehicle.
Who is the suspect?
Two victims, according to the police, had extremely serious injuries. Both were taken by emergency personnel to the hospital, where one of them passed away. Police are unsure of the identity of the alleged shooter.
Law enforcement has been called to a multi-block incident. The area between Campbell Avenue and Grant Avenue on College Street is closed to traffic.
Police investigation:
College Street was blocked by police between Grant and Campbell so they could speak with witnesses and find evidence. There is a large Springfield police presence near Park Central Square.
There are more police cars at Grant and Walnut and several emergency vehicles at the intersection of Campbell and College.
